FAQ

Have Any Questions?

  • Rehab facilities like ARH provide specialized medical care and/or rehabilitation services to injured, sick or disabled patients with the intent to return the patient home to their former independence. People in our types of facilities are typically referred by a hospital for follow up care after a stay in the hospital for surgery as an example & their stays are short term. Every patient is different and stays a different length of time. If you are making progress, meeting the goals set by your rehabilitation team, then a continued stay is beneficial to you.

After the first team conference, the team will have an estimate of how long you will continue to benefit from the services the center offers. Your case manager will notify you of your expected discharge date and assist in arranging for any further therapy you will need after you leave the center.

  • Direct access is a law that allows patients to have an evaluation and seek treatment from a physical therapist without a prescription or referral from a physician.

Direct access gets you treatment sooner! If you strained your low back with heavy lifting or sprained your ankle or have chronic neck pain, you do not have to wait for an appointment with your physician or orthopedist which could take weeks.

Physical therapy treatment can decrease your pain, improve your mobility and get you back doing what you want to do.

  • In post-stroke rehabilitation, research shows the most important element is carefully directed, well-focused, repetitive practice-the same kind of practice used by all people when they learn a new skill, such as playing the piano or pitching a baseball. The neurorehabilitation program must be customized to practice those skills impaired due to the stroke, such as weakness, lack of coordination, problems walking, loss of sensation, problems with hand grasp, visual loss, or trouble speaking or understanding.

  • Occupational Therapists help you return to the life that you love. We recognize that an injury or illness can be devastating, and that a huge part of the healing process involves being able to participate in your daily life in ways that matter to you the most.

Our role is to serve as your guide, by helping you establish your health and life goals-and then working with you to find the interventions, technology, and equipment that work best for YOU to get you where you want to be.

  • Physical therapy for arthritis helps ease symptoms and make it easier to perform everyday movements! We evaluate your posture, muscle imbalances, and body mechanics and teach you to improve the way you move to prevent injury, reduce pain, and align your body. A 2020 study involving people with knee osteoarthritis showed that physical therapy was more effective than steroid injections at reducing pain and functional disability!

  • Your first session with your physical therapist is called an initial evaluation. During this session, your physical therapist will spend time with you to learn about your condition, your previous level of function, and how your condition is affecting your life. He or she will then take specific measurements of the impairments that may be causing your problem and put together a treatment plan for you.

You will be asked many general questions to determine your overall health and then the questions will become more specific to your condition and your reason for needing physical therapy.

Your physical therapist will test you for flexibility, strength, range of motion, posture and overall mobility to further diagnose the extent of your injury. This initial evaluation will provide a baseline measurement for your physical therapist to gauge your progress.

  • Our team and social workers assist our patients and their families with the resources they need to return to a normal life in the safest way possible. In many cases that involves family training with each member of the plan-of-care team.
