Dr. Stuart Begnaud was born in Lafayette, LA and raised in Acadia Parish. He is a graduate of USL (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette) and LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. After one year of intern training in internal medicine at LSU, he completed three years of specialty residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation, culminating as Chief Resident in 1998. He has been in private practice in Lafayette for over 20 years.
In addition to caring for civilian patients, Stuart served as physician to soldiers in the Louisiana Army National Guard, honorably discharged after completing 8 years of service. As a lifetime learner, he remains a Board Certified Diplomat of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and has continued to maintain the highest recertification standards for the most up to date treatments. His practice is one of general rehabilitation, treating a wide variety of neurologic and musculoskeletal disorders, with a particular interest and focus on stroke and spinal cord rehabilitation. A proud Acadiana native, Dr. Begnaud has also provided medical mission work to Haiti and is an advocate for foster and adoptive care in Louisiana.
Dr. Begnaud believes the best way to make an impact on the health of his patients is to encourage physical, spiritual and emotional well being through comprehensive and personalized care. He also believes that care given by any medical professional is simply part of a process of healing as provided by our Creator. Dr. Begnaud’s goal of treatment is to promote restorative care and maximization of function in order that an individual may continue to live as high quality of life as possible with the least possible residual impairment.
